My Musical Biography

I fell in love with music a long time ago.  I can remeber listening to my parents vinyl long before I can remember anything else.  First things that really inspired me where The BeatlesI would have to say that the White Album and also Abbey Road where my first experiences with The Beatles and are what have developed my tastes into what they are today.  I remember listening to Revolution Number 9 and being mesmerized by the looping and cutting of that song.  I guess that is where I fell in love with the sampler and the loop.  I grew up through the late 70's and 80's and was in love with all things synthesizer.  I loved the effects that they were discovering then.  But I guess my brain didn't really catch on to what was going on with music and how to make it until the early 90's.  I have always been a performer.  I have studied Theatre since High School and love to be on stage.  So I guess music was just a natural output for me.  But I couldn't play anything.  So I thought I would be a singer.  I was in and out of a lot of stuff that never really went anywhere until I joind up with Doug and Andie who were working on the same kind of stuff that inspired me.  My girlfriend at the time joined in on bass and we had a band.  We went by the name of Lintscreen at first, then onto EightFoldPath and finally settled on Zero/Fill.  We did some recording had some fun and I got my first taste of singing by myself in front of a crowd.  We played around Iowa and in Minneapolis.  It was fun and I met cool people that would later lead me to where I am today.  During this time I ran into an old high school aquintance Cory Carney and we began hanging out and goofing around.  He liked a lot of the same stuff I did so we shared ideas.  Cory would later go on and produce my first solo release Experimental Mind Therapy - Ultra Vibe Pleasure 2000This is a name that will resurface in my career later on.  From Cory I met other musicians and ended up getting into a band called Smakdab.  No longer was I a singer though.  I was now doing keyboards, programming, and sampling.  This was fun and Smakdab was made up of some of the most unique and talented people I have ever met, still even to this day.  I enjoyed my time with them, but some roads lead on different paths.  Ours did, but during that time I got to play with bands like Sister Machine Gun, Hate Dept., System of a Down, American Head Charge, and various members of Slipknot, Down The Sun, The Rejects, Stone Sour, and many many other people.  It was a good time and a great learning experience.  After Smakdab I took some time off and ended up working with a good friend of mine K-9.  I had done some loops and samples for his rock project called Kaotic Order.  I had also helped produce the album.  Kaotic Order went their seperate way and so K-9 and I started working together.  We formed a musical group called De-Solut!on that would focus on blending styles and blurring the lines of music.  It was fun but pretty chaotic.  K-9 soon moved on and started a Hip-Hop label in Bakersfield California called A+9 RecordsDe-Solut!on is now K-9 and myself working as a production team together creating samples and loops for musicians to use.  After De-Solut!on I again took some time off to find my voice in music.  I put out an ad that I was looking for interested musicans to form a band.  I came into contact with what would make up EMT Experimental Mind Therapy.  My project and dream was finally going to see the light of day now after ten years of working on songs of my own.  I wrote the original songs for the band gave them the skeleton and let them all write their parts to fill in the gaps.  All went well for awhile we played out made some fans and had a good time.  But tensions in the band crushed all hope of us continuing on together.  I walked away and lost my songs an my name that I had been using for ten years because it would be easier then one more fight with that band.  Now I'm back at it.  Well a lot has happended since I last updated this page.  I am currently playing keyboards and samples for Eddie Buzzard http://www.eddiebuzzard.com/ and have finished the remix for 30 Seconds of Shame as well as finished a remix for 7K from Iowa Falls.  Zilch and I are still talking about collaborating but we both are very busy with our new bands which doesn't allow us a lot of time to collaborate.  I have also been quite busy working on solo material as well as finishing up parts on Pseudo Sleep Project's debut record.
